Whether you’ve already earned your associate degree or are still working toward it, the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith makes your next step straightforward. Â鶹´«Ã½ has formal partnerships with 16 institutions across Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee representing more than 30 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs).

Through these Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), sometimes called 2+2 agreements, your completed coursework maps directly to a Â鶹´«Ã½ bachelor’s degree.

That means you have a clear picture of what’s expected to transfer before you enroll: fewer surprises, less repeated coursework, less wasted time.

What Is a Memorandum of Understanding?


At the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), often called 2+2 agreements, establish transfer credit pathways between partner colleges and specific Â鶹´«Ã½ bachelor’s degree programs, so you can finish your four-year degree without repeating coursework you’ve already completed.

Degree plans reflect the catalog year in which they were created, so confirm yours with your academic advisor before you enroll.

How MOUs Work

An MOU is a formal agreement between your community or technical college and Â鶹´«Ã½. It outlines how your completed courses are expected to apply toward a specific Â鶹´«Ã½ bachelor’s degree, course by course, credit by credit.

You complete the first two years at your current institution, earning your associate degree. Then you transfer to Â鶹´«Ã½ to complete the final two years and graduate with a bachelor’s degree. Because the pathway is mapped in advance, you have a clear starting point for which credits are expected to count.

Each MOU includes a degree plan document that outlines the expected transfer pathway. These plans reflect the catalog year in which they were created.
